BCCI announce 'Dream Team' initiative for fans on eve of India's 500th Test match

BCCI announce 'Dream Team' initiative for fans on eve of India's 500th Test match
Also, Janalakshmi Financial Services has joined hands with the BCCI as an associate sponsor for a three-year-period.

The fans will vote on Indian Cricket Team’s official Facebook page to select their greatest ever Test XI
As unfair as it might be to the other sports, but the fan-following that the game of cricket gets in India is beyond crazy with the crowd flocking to the stadiums to cheer their superstars while millions of others sit glued in front of the TV sets biting their nails away in excitement. India has evolved as a cricket playing nation over the years to become the World Champion in the 50-over format twice and the World T20 champion once in their illustrious history.

The Test format, however, is the true pinnacle of the sport and with the Men in Blue set to play their 500th match in the longest format of the game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who are doing their bit to promote Test cricket having lined up as many as 13 Tests in the 2016-17 home season, beginning with the landmark contest against New Zealand at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

On the eve of the momentous occasion, the BCCI wants to provide the cricket-crazy fans –  who have helped cricket reach the zenith of sports in India – an opportunity to get involved, launching a ‘ Dream Team’ initiative.

This fan-engagement drive on the Indian Cricket Team’s official Facebook page will see the followers get a chance to vote for their dream eleven out an illustrious list of players to have donned the Indian colours since their first Test way back in 1932.

Talking about the initiative, BCCI president Anurag Thakur said: “I have always believed that the heart of the game lies with its fans and what better way to celebrate the historic moment of 500th Test match by giving the fans a chance to vote for their ‘Dream Team’. I am pleased that over 100,000 cricket fans have already voted to pick their top-order in the ‘Dream Team’ and I expect that number to grow manifolds in coming days.”

BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke also had his say on the social media initiative by the BCCI that has generated much hype.

“This is a great campaign for the Indian cricket fans to come together and pick their favourite players in their team. We are expecting our fans to give a healthy competition to the legends of the game in their Dream Team,” Shirke said.

BCCI unveil official financial services partner

The huge fan-following that the game has in India has also helped the BCCI emerge as one of the most powerful players in modern day cricket and their financial might will be further boosted after it was revealed that Janalakshmi Financial Services (Jana), a Non-Banking Financial Company, with its headquarters in Bangalore, had been roped in as an associate sponsor of the BCCI and will be the official financial services partner for the next three years.

“I am delighted to announce this three-year long association as it further strengthens our belief in India Cricket,” the BCCI President said.

“I am pleased to announce BCCI’s partnership with Janalakshmi Financial Services. Like the BCCI for whom the fan holds a high place, the Jana believes in forging a strong connect with the consumer.

“The latest tie-up shows that India Cricket is taking big strides on and off the field. As we commence the mega home season, I thank our new partner and look forward to their lasting support.”

Raaz Reboot box office collection day 4

Raaz Reboot box office collection day 4: Emraan Hashmi-starrer continues to perform better at single-screen theaters.

Raaz Reboot which stars Emraan Hashmi, Kriti Kharbanda and Gaurav Arora might be struggling to keep pace at the multiplexes, but it has managed to sweep across the single-screen audience. The horror flick which collected a decent Rs. 6.30 crore on its opening day, continues to keep its hold in smaller centers. Till Sunday, the film stood at a collection of Rs. 18.09 crore. The film which is the fourth one in the Raaz franchise however, has failed to impress the viewers in terms of its plot. While on Saturday, the film earned Rs 5.49 crore, on Sunday the collections were Rs 6.30 crore in India. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted the numbers of domestic business.

Raaz Reboot has been directed by Vikram Bhatt who said “I have always tried to do something different. I am trying to give something new to the audience all the time. They might like it or not like it, but you can’t doubt my intentions.”

Those who saw the film felt it could’ve done much better in terms of its horror component, as many parts of the film were less scary and more unconvincing. Emraan Hashmi who appears in a pivotal role has done justice to his part, as much as the plot demanded. However, his negative character is the highlight of the film.

Raaz reboot released alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsee Pannu-starrer Pink, which is doing much better at multiplexes. Pink which is a courtroom drama and deals with the crimes against women, is giving tough competition to Raaz Reboot. The weekdays are crucial for both the films. Considering Pink is getting a strong word of mouth publicity, the fate of Raaz Reboot completely lies to the extent it can hold on to the mass circuits.

Google announces a new app called Trips.

Today Google released a new app for travel goers called Google Trips. Available for Android and iOS, the company hopes it will be your new travel companion.

Google Trips

Hot on the heels of Destinations, which brings travel planning features to search, travelers now have an app. The app organizes your plane tickets and hotel reservations, offers travel guides for over 200 cities around the world and makes personalized recommendations based on your Google history.

On top of this, it works offline. Avoiding roaming charges and spotty Wi-Fi is probably the biggest travel issue. Google Trips lets you download everything you need locally before you leave, which includes maps and walking directions.

As with many Google products, you’re required to use your Google Account, whether it’s personal or work. You’ll probably want to use the account where your flight and hotel information is delivered to.

Creating a trip is easy. The main part of the app is called Things to Do. It builds custom itineraries based around things like the length of stay, popular destinations you want to see and anything you’ve previously starred or saved on a Google service. You can be general, like “72 hours in New York” or dive deep into shopping, museums and outdoor activities.

When your phone signal is active, the app gives you real-time information on which destinations are open or closed. It makes adjustments based on time of day and weather. Similar to Google search, it has an I’m Feeling Lucky recommendation for your day. Using this, Google gives you a random highlight from the city you’re in.

Facebook Paid ₹10,70,000 To This Guy From Kerala. Here’s Why.

Facebook is one of the most used tools of communication in the world. And every tool of communication needs to be secure. And although the Facebook website looks pretty safe, there still are a few bugs here and there which seasoned hackers look to exploit. For this reason, Facebook loves people who find out these bugs and help it fix them. And it shows its love by rewarding them with huge sums of money.

According to The Times Of India, a young student from Kerala, has become the latest one to win a cash prize from Facebook. Arun S Kumar, a computer engineering student from MES Institute of Technology, Kollam, exposed a critical vulnerability in Facebook Business Manager, through which, a hacker could take control of a Facebook page in less than 10 seconds. He received Rs. 10.7 Lakhs ($16,000) for this.

"Since the hacker would be able to manipulate the page of any Facebook user, the damage it would bring is beyond imagination," he told TOI.

He reported the bug to the Facebook security team on August 29. He heard back from them the very next day, and by September 6, the team had fixed the bug. And three days later, he received another mail informing Arun that he'll be receiving a "bug bounty" for pointing out the bug.

In August this year, along with three other ethical hackers from different countries, he was invited to meet the Facebook security team at Las Vegas. He was also awarded a place in the Facebook's Hall Of Fame for white hackers, becoming the first Indian to get this honour.

Facebook, like most other tech giants, have a bug bounty program, rewarding people who notify them of flaws on their platform.

And this is not the first time Facebook has awarded Arun for hunting bugs. In April this year, he had found another vulnerability, for which he received Rs. 7 lakh. He has spotted bugs in many other websites, including Google and has received more than Rs. 30 lakh in payouts in the past three years, the TOI report says.

Foods That Every Athlete Should Eat.

The market is flooded with foods and supplements marketed toward fitness fanatics—if you use the term “food” loosely, that is. From energy gels to protein powders to meal-replacement bars, you can find something packaged and processed (and usually, quite pricy) for every type of athlete, whether you’re an endurance runner or a power lifter.

Eating for athletic performance, however, shouldn’t just take place after the gym or right before a big event. It’s something you should be conscious of at every meal and every snack, say sports nutritionists Barbara Lewin and Jill Pluhar, and your strategy should involve more whole foods and natural nutrition than the factory-manufactured kind. Here, 10 of their favorite eats for athletes, and tips on how to make the most of their nutritional benefits.

1. Beets

Beets are one of the healthiest natural foods in the grocery store. Not only do they provide you with a full dose of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, they’re also great for detoxifying the body. The betalain pigments found in beets can help in the neutralization and removal of toxins that can make us feel drained or ill.
In essence, beets are the perfect food for an athlete. Beets are especially ideal for anyone who’s constantly putting their body to the test and who needs to rebuild muscle quickly and efficiently.

2. Chia seeds

The very same ones from your childhood chia pet, these little seeds are rich in omega-3s, antioxidants and fiber, as well as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, and zinc among many others. Chia seeds form a gel when added to water inside or outside of the body, therefore, they slow digestion and provide a steady stream of energy to sustain a long game or outing.

3. Lemons

While regular exercise tends to balance out our body’s pH (remember that cancer and other illnesses tend to survive in acidic conditions), excessive exercise, like that many athletes endure, can promote an acidic state as well. Although lemons are acidic outside of the body, inside of the body they actually help neutralize this exercise induced acidic state.

4. Oatmeal

This breakfast staple can also be tossed into protein shakes to kick up the carb and calorie count if you’re looking to pack on weight. Just make sure to opt for steel-cut—instant oats have a glycemic index of 83, compared to 55 for the “average” oat. This means that the instant option is more likely to cause an insulin spike, which will cause you to store all those carbs as flab.
Oatmeal is a great source of carbohydrate energy for athletes, plus it’s high in fiber, which keeps you full longer and helps maintain glucose levels.

5. Bananas

Bananas are extremely convenient for busy athletes—portable and encased in biodegradable wrappers. They also deliver a potent dose of good nutrition. Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, an electrolyte that gets lost in sweat and helps maintain low blood pressure. Bananas are also a good source of carbs to fuel the muscles, and they taste great with chocolate milk and/or peanut butter, which are other good sports foods.

6.Salmon

Salmon is, quite simply, one of healthiest forms of meat you can consume. Not only is it packed with protein, but it’s also an amazing source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to help with protein synthesis. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties that can optimize cellular functionality. Overall, salmon is a great way to get your protein fill. Just be sure to acquire wild or organically farmed fish, which doesn’t have the pesticides and fungicides used by many salmon farms.

7. Yogurt

Yogurt, especially the kind packed with probiotics, can be a very effective way of helping control weight. Several studies, including this one from the Dairy Council, state that the consuming probiotics can improve gastrointestinal health and increase energy. Probiotic yogurt is also known for reducing athlete recovery times and helping maintain an overall healthy digestive system. Yogurt is great on its own, but it can also be added to sauces, soups, and smoothies. It’s a great source of protein and will keep you feeling full longer than many other food items.

8. Nuts and Nut Butter

Because they’re a natural combination of protein and healthy fats, nuts (and nut products) are a staple in many athletes’ diets. They’re also easy to digest, and can help balance your blood sugar when paired with carbs. If you were to eat a bagel all by itself, it would turn to sugar pretty quickly and you’d use up all of that energy right away. But if you put some peanut butter or almond butter on that bagel, the protein and fat can help sustain those carbs over a longer period of time, in a non-invasive way that doesn’t upset your stomach.
9. Tuna

Tuna, another food with a PCDAAS of 1, is only slightly more difficult to prepare than a protein shake, especially if you buy the canned stuff. Mix it with avocado and spread it on whole wheat bread for an easy, healthy lunch, or pull it and toss it with a salad.

10. Pasta

Protein may be important for building muscle, but carbohydrates are still the single most important component of an athlete’s diet. Our bodies burn carbs as fuel. We can also burn fat or protein, but we have to convert them into carbs first, which is more work for the body. So what kind of carbs should you eat? Most of the time, whole-grain varieties are best. They have more fiber and, usually, less added sugar than their refined white counterparts. The night before a big competition, though, switch to the simple stuff—plain pasta with red sauce at a pre-race pasta party, for example. Fiber takes a while to get through your system and it can contribute to gastrointestinal distress, so reducing it before a big athletic event can help things run more smoothly.

M.S Dhoni Would Hate Gautam Gambhir For What He Said About His Upcoming Biopic.

Rajnikantvscidjokes 18 Sept. 2016 17:16

‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is all set to hit the screens on the 30th of September and just few days before its release, Gautam Gambhir has spoken against the concept of making biopics. M.S Dhoni would definitely not like what he has said about biopics on cricketers.

We all know that the national selectors overlooked Gambhir for the upcoming Test Series against New Zealand, in spite of giving a consistent performance in the Duleep Trophy.

Now, Gautam is of the opinion that there are various other people in the world than cricketers, who actually deserve a biopic for the valuable contributions they have made.

He took to Twitter and expressed disappointment over the films made on cricketers. Here’s his tweet…

“I don’t believe in biopics on cricketers. I think those people, who have contributed more to the country than the cricketers, deserve a biopic. There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore biopics should be made on their lives,”

This tweet is nothing but a sly dig at M.S Dhoni. Gautam and Dhoni have been sharing a frosty relation since and years and this tweet could just deepen the rift.

Many people gave their reactions on this and instead of supporting Gambhir, they trolled him, calling him an egoistic person. Have a look at the trolls..

Hello loser!

Don’t worry brother!

Jalo mat!

Comeback nahi kar payega!

Stop being jealous!

Why so much hate with Dhoni?

Grow up!

Burnol lelo!

Perfect example of ego and jealousy!

Yes, might be this reaction of Gautam is a result of the ignorance he has been getting from the team since the start. Already there are biopics on cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Azharuddin and Dhoni. May be Gautam is insecure because there is nothing on him yet.

We Bet You Didn’t Know That Abhishek Bachchan Is A Guinness World Record Holder And he beat Will Smith to get it.

We've been seeing less and less of Junior Bachchan every year for some time now. His last movie Housefull 3 , released earlier this year, did phenomenally at the box office and regardless of what the critics say, the fans love him and can't wait for what he does next.

And it is for all those fans that we've discovered a juicy lil factoid about Abhishek! Guess what, Junior B is a current Guinness World Record holder for 'Most Public Appearances Made By A Film Star In 12 Hours'.

Back in 2009, while promoting his memorable Delhi-6 , Abhishek made appearances at 7 different venues in a matter of merely 12 hours.

Bachchan walked the red carpet, signed autographs, introduced the film and gave interviews in Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Mumbai on 22 February, 2009. He travelled 1,800 kms by car and private jet to make it happen.

This record was previously held by Will Smith, who attended three media events within 2 hours while promoting his 2004 film I, Robot .

But come 2009, Bachchan was all like, "Move aside Hancock. I've got a record to frikkin' shatter."
You're welcome, y'all. Here's to Abhishek, officially awesome.
